Announcing Interim Leadership in Extension Agriculture and Landscape

As you likely know, longtime Agriculture and Landscape Program director Kathy Carroll retired at the end of June. You may be interested to know that we have appointed three individuals to interim roles for one year to assume some of Kathy’s duties while we shape and conduct a search for her successor.

  • Sonia Schloemann, extension educator and small fruit specialist, has agreed to serve as interim director for the food production agriculture work of the program.
  • Mary Owen, extension educator and leader of the turf team, has agreed to serve as interim director for the green industries/commercial horticulture aspects of the program.
  • Tawny Simisky, extension entomologist, has agreed to serve as interim team leader for the Landscape, Nursery, and Urban Forestry team within the program.

We are very grateful to these three for their generosity in agreeing to take on these new responsibilities. Please add your thanks to ours when you have the opportunity. If you have any questions about the new arrangement, you can feel free to contact me or to contact Jody once she is back in town, beginning August 6.

Save the Date for Ice Cream Social

CAFE is pleased to be holding an ice cream social on Tuesday, August 14, from 2 to 3, on the lawn in front of Stockbridge Hall (or inside in case of rain). If you are on campus that day, please join us to mingle and enjoy a little local ice cream.
