Native pollinators are an essential resource in our wild and managed landscapes. Come to this workshop if you're interested in learning more about their biology and conservation. We'll mainly be talking about different species of bees but other types of pollinators will also be mentioned (flies, birds, bats, etc.). We'll learn about the different families of pollinating bees ranging from the tiny beautiful sweat bees to the big and endearing bumble bees. We'll learn about what they need for nesting and foraging habitats and how to create these spaces in our landscapes. A brief tour of the UMass Permaculture Garden will be included.
This workshop will be partially out of doors, so please dress appropriately for potentially wet, cold, and muddy conditions. Please do not bring children or pets (except certified service animals). We are not equipped to ensure their safety and comfort. $30 fee
