Project Description:

With increased pressure to utilize more practical, ecological and economically feasible strategies in the management of turfgrasses, additional research is needed to identify best management practices aimed at preservation of water resources. The primary goal for this research is to increase the sustainability of turfgrass by addressing critical issues important to the industry centered around water conservation, including (i) development of efficient irrigation strategies based on actual turfgrass water use, (ii) identification of drought resistant species and cultivars for turf use, and (iii) evaluation of an artificial wetland system to aid in preservation of water quality from managed turf settings.
