IPM Message for Cranberry Growers: Jun 1, 2018

June 1, 2018

Pheromone traps should be out now. Place them on the upwind side of the bog so that the scent flows onto your bogs with the prevailing winds. Spag larvae have been picked up. If you are finding them in your sweep nets, the threshold is 1-2 on average. You should treat as soon as you can. The weather has not been good for spraying, so when you have a good window, you should take it. Intrepid and Delegate are good choices for these caterpillars. Be sure to be sweeping when the weather is favorable and don’t delay. You may miss your window to sweep and then miss the window to treat! Cranberry weevils continue to pick up in numbers way above thresholds in some locations.

We are holding a bogside workshop on Wednesday June 20 from 8-10 AM, here at the Station. If the weather is inclement, we will meet in the library. Otherwise, we will meet bogside. We will be discussing all relevant issues of the day.
