East Wareham

October had an average temperature warmer than the long-term average for the month, below average sunshine hours and above average rainfall.  The temperature averaged 55.65 degrees, 2.97 degrees per day above average for October.  Maximum temperature of 80 degrees was recorded on the 2nd; a minimum temperature of 35 degrees was recorded on the 20th. Daytime high temperatures averaged 62.87 degrees, 2.59 degrees higher than October 2018 but, 1.95 degrees lower than the norm.  Evening low temperatures averaged 48.47 degrees, 4.72 degrees above the norm. The October average temperatures were consistent with the past 9 years except 2018 in which temperatures were warmer than the 30-year average. 

Sunshine totaled 36% of the possible sunshine hours, 19 points below the norm.  The Blue Hills observatory had 6 days that were mostly clear (at least 80% of possible) and 9 days with no sunshine.  In East Wareham, 19 days in October were either cloudy or overcast.

Precipitation totaled 8.68 inches, 4.54 inches above the 30-year average.  The largest rainfall came on the 28th, 1.94 inches.  Measurable rain was recorded on 16 days, 11 days of which had rainfall of 0.10 inches or greater. Year-to-date rainfall for 2019 is 47.83 inches; 7 inches above average for East Wareham.
