Weather Summary - November 2016

East Wareham

November was just above average in temperature, very dry, and very sunny.  The temperature averaged 44.9 degrees, 0.7 degrees above normal.  Maximum temperature was 66.2 degrees on the 2nd; a minimum temperature of 26.6 degrees was recorded on the 28th and the 29th.  Daytime high temperatures averaged 53.9 degrees, 1.5 degrees above the norm.  Nighttime temperatures averaged 35.9 degrees, 0.6 degrees above the norm.  November 2016 average temperature was much cooler than that in November 2015 but still above the 30-year average for the month.  So far 2106 has had 10 of 11 months with above average temperature.

Precipitation totaled 2.26 inches, 2.42 inches below normal.  Measurable precipitation of 0.10 inches or more was recorded on 4 days.  More than half of the total for the month (1.21 inches) came on the 29th.  Year-to-date rainfall for 2016 is 37.64 inches, 7.87 inches below the year-to-date average for East Wareham at this time of year.  This deficit is slightly less than at this time in 2015.  Since June, we are at only 68% of normal precipitation.  There was no snowfall recorded for the month of November in East Wareham.  The average snowfall for November in East Wareham is 1.0 inch.

Sunshine, recorded at the Blue Hills Observatory, totaled 53% of the possible, 6 point above average.  There were 10 days with 90% or more sunshine, and 8 days with near zero. 

Official Fall Season

The official fall season, Sept. – Nov. 2016, was warm, dry, and above average for sunshine.  Temperatures averaged 55.4 degrees, 2.1 degrees above normal but not as warm as fall 2015.  A maximum temperature of 90.5 degrees was recorded on the 9th of September and a minimum temperature of 26.6 degrees was recorded on the 28th and 29th of November.  Rainfall totaled 11.84 inches, 1.35 inches below normal.  Average snowfall for the fall season for East Wareham is 1.0 inch; we received no snow this season.  Sunshine was 54% of the possible, 2 points above the norm for the fall season.
