Katie Kahl

Katie Kahl, has joined the Department of Environmental Conservation as extension assistant professor in sustainable fisheries and coastal resilience. Her office is at UMass Amherst’s Gloucester Marine Station. She has a master’s and PhD in fisheries and wildlife with an emphasis in landscape ecology from Michigan State University. Kahl moved to Gloucester last year with her spouse, a Gloucester native, and their two children, to be closer to family.

Marybeth Rowland

Marybeth Rowland has joined the Extension Nutrition Education Program office in Raynham as a Nutrition Educator for the EFNEP (Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program).



Zara Dowling
Zara Dowling has joined the staff of Clean Energy Extension as a research assistant. She is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Environmental Conservation and a fellow in the Offshore Wind Energy IGERT Program at UMass.  Zara grew up in Westhampton, and now lives in New Salem.

Laura Wiles, longtime Personnel Assistant in CNS Administrative Services, has been selected to fill another position in the unit, Human Resources Specialist. In this role, Laura follows Jessica Sadowski, who left CNS last fall to take a position in the Provost’s Office.

Marie-Francoise Hatte
Marie-Françoise Hatte, associate director of the Water Resources Research Center, has been named interim director of the Center through June, 2018. 


Jason Lanier, Angie Madeiras, Geoffrey NjueJason Lanier and Angela Madeiras have joined Geoffrey Njue in the UMass Extension Floriculture & Greenhouse Program.  Former long-time team member Tina Smith retired last year. Jason also continues his affiliation with the Extension Turf Program and Landscape, Nursery and Urban Forestry Program while Angela continues her affiliation with the Extension Plant Diagnostic Laboratory.
