In 1978, Tina Smith began her career working as a “county agent” in Greenfield for the Franklin County Extension Service. She accomplished much in the field of floriculture and nursery including her organization of the first master gardener program in Franklin County. Her job evolved from agent to regional specialist and then expanded to include statewide responsibilities with programs reaching throughout New England. She says, “Over the course of my career I have been so fortunate to have had so many wonderful opportunities and got to know so many people.” Tina and her husband, Paul Putnam, have been married for 36 years and have a son Jeff who works in NY.
Sally Powers, Associate Dean for Faculty and Research in the College of Natural Sciences and professor of psychology and brain sciences, has retired.
Paula Rees has resigned as director of CAFE’s Water Resources Research Center to become Assistant Dean in the College of Engineering.
Elena Sharnoff, who served as the first Director of Communications for the College of Natural Sciences, has resigned. Elena was previously Communications Director for the then College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
Kathy Dugan, 4-H Worcester County, has resigned as Program Assistant.
Laura Alimayu, Worcester office, nutrition educator has resigned.
Kristin Cunningham, Boston office, nutrition educator has resigned.
Jacqui Bodin, CNS Administrative Services clerk for CAFE, has resigned.

Mark Tuominen, physics professor at UMass, has become Associate Dean for Research and Innovation for CNS.
Erin Gianetti has joined the UMass Extension Nutrition office in Boston as a nutrition educator.
