Survey of Pythium Isolates for Resistance to Subdue (metalaxyl)

Subdue (metalaxyl) has long been considered the best fungicide to control diseases caused by Pythium and Phytophthora; however, resistance to this fungicide has become common. See results (pdf above) from a survey conducted in 1998.

To avoid fungicide resistance, rotate among chemicals in different fungicide groups. See "Root Diseases of Greenhouse Crops" and New England Greenhouse Floriculture Guide for more information.
