Transition to Organic Partnership Program: Organics and Food Safety

There are points of both overlap and tension for farms trying to meet organic and food safety standards. In this workshop, we’ll cover the principles and requirements of both and the ways that growers can meet them effectively and streamline their efforts as much as possible. Topics will include selecting and handling soil amendments, agricultural water management, and recordkeeping.

Animal Verification Forms Due

Animal Verification Forms Now is the time to print off your Animal Verification Forms to plan for the upcoming show season. Lease Forms are also due at the same time. Animal Verification Forms are to be completed for all livestock, dogs, and horses that you plan to show at a 4-H fair, dog academies, and/or Big E 4-H Shows. Note: Lambs and kids born after June 1st are still eligible to show based on your fair’s requirements, but you will still need to file a Verification Form on them once they are born. Verification Forms are due to your county/regional 4-H office by the following dates: • New Date: May 1st – Horse (only if planning to show at the Sept. New England 4-H Horse Show at the Big E) • May 1st – Dairy Cattle, Beef Cattle, and Working Steers • June 1st – Goat, Sheep, Llama, Alpaca and Swine, Dog Check the News Blast, the website section for the corresponded species or your local Educator for more information.

New 4-H Volunteer Orientation

The 4-H Extension Educators have developed a statewide orientation training for new 4-H volunteers. This training is part of the application and onboarding process for new 4-H volunteers and will be offered monthly. If you are a new volunteer, or if you are a returning volunteer who would like to attend this orientation to stay informed on recent policy and procedure changes in the 4-H program, please contact your regional 4-H educator to register for an upcoming training.
