East Wareham

December 2021 was dry with no snowfall, and warmer than average.  The temperature averaged 38.4 degrees, 4.1 degrees per day above the 30-year average. Maximum temperature was 60 degrees on three days (7th, 12th, and 18th); a minimum temperature of 21 degrees was recorded on the 21st.  Daytime high temperatures averaged 46.7 degrees, 4 degrees above the norm.  Evening temperatures averaged 30.1 degrees, 3.9 degrees above the norm.

Precipitation totaled 1.59 inches; 2.94 inches below normal.  Rainfall was recorded on 10 days and 6 days received more than 0.1 inches of rainfall. The largest rainfall was 0.46 inches on the 26th.  Total rainfall for 2021 was 54.2 inches, 8.69 inches above the average for East Wareham and 15.6 inches more than the total rainfall for 2020.  The fall months of 2021 were very wet, the total rainfall for the fall months was 20.34 inches, 7.15 inches above the 30-year average. In contrast to the total snowfall of 26 inches recorded in December 2020, no snowfalls were recorded in December 2021. The long-term snowfall average in East Wareham for December is 6.98 inches.

Sunshine for the month (recorded at the Blue Hills Observatory) was below average, totaling 35% of possible, 13 points below the norm.  There were 3 days with 90% or greater sunshine hours and 9 days with no sunshine at all.
