Leafhopper Damage to Rosemary

Leafhopper Damage to Rosemary
Leafhopper Damage to Rosemary

Leafhoppers have piercing, sucking mouthparts. Whey they feed, yellowing and stippling may be seen on the foliage. This feeding damage may be confused with spider mite or thrips feeding damage. Leafhoppers jump or fly when disturbed.

Place yellow sticky cards near the plants showing symptoms to see if adult leafhoppers are present. The slender nymphs resemble the adults but lack wings. They may be found on the underside of leaves. You may also see the white cast skins of the leafhoppers. You can also tap the foliage over a white sheet of paper, but the leafhoppers can move quickly.
