Northeast Management Officers (NEMO)
Northeast Management Officers (NEMO) is an affiliation of state Land-grant institutions in the Northeast region. NEMO members typically work on behalf of Extension and/or Agricultural Experiment Stations, often within agricultural or natural science colleges at their respective universities. NEMO members have positions in finance, human resources, accountability, (planning, reporting and evaluation) communications and general administration.
The 2018 Annual NEMO meeting will be hosted by the University of Massachusetts and will take place in Northampton, Massachusetts beginning Sunday evening, 10/21 and concluding midday on Tuesday, 10/23. Northampton is located in the scenic Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts and is approximately 15 minutes from UMass Amherst by car. The town is recognized locally and regionally as a destination for food, arts and culture.
The annual NEMO meeting is an opportunity to share information regarding budgetary, finance, human resource management and other best practices. We receive the latest information and updates directly from NIFA staff and officers. NEMO members form a network of knowledge and expertise that individuals are frequently not able to access within their own institutions. Finally, NEMO helps to organize planning and support for the annual NERAOC Meeting (National Extension and Research Administrative Officers Conference).
“I belong to NEMO because it gives me direct access to relevant information from people with practical knowledge of how Extension finances work. I also enjoy connecting with my colleagues from other states.”
