The New England Vegetable & Berry Growers Association (NEVBGA) is the oldest vegetable growers association in the United States. Through educational programs, industry promotion and advocacy, networking opportunities, and the funding of Extension research, the NEVBGA supports and promotes the vegetable and berry industry in New England. 

Non-members are welcome to attend NEVBGA grower meetings and are invited to join the Association as members.

9:00 -   Registration

9:30 -   SOIL FERTILITY: BACK TO THE BASICS FOR SUCCESS - Genevieve Higgins, UMass Extension

10:15 - HAND TOOL FARMER TO FARMER - Many hand tools have been introduced in the past few years. We will have a facilitated discussion by those who have purchased certain hand tools for small growers, what they liked, how they worked in their field conditions, ergonomics, and share tips with other growers.

11:00 - IPM LIKE YOUR BUSINESS DEPENDS ON IT - Dr. Anna Wallingford Assistant State Specialist and Extension State Specialist, Entomology & IPM. UNH Cooperative Extension will cover developing a crop plan around your most impactful pests and diseases with scouting, cultural practices, and product selection.

Noon - LUNCH and meet other attendees- Please bring your own lunch. We will provide water, coffee, and hot water for tea.

1:00 - BACKPACK SPRAYER CALIBRATION - George Hamilton Extension Educator Emeritus from UNH Cooperative Extension will present a comprehensive guide to calibrating backpack spraying equipment that will help ensure effective, efficient, economical, and legal application of your chosen material Bring your questions about backpack sprayers, small tank mixing, stickers, and compatibility for our group of extension specialists. Sending questions ahead of the meeting will help us tailor the topics to the needs of the participants.

2:00 - A SERIOUS DISCUSSION ABOUT SCALE - A group-led discussion about what scale works for you, how you decide to scale up parts of your operation, add employees, or make the difficult decision to scale back.

3:00 - FINAL THOUGHTS and Adjourn

Commercial members are welcome to set up tabletop displays
