Dr. Roberto Lopez, Associate Professor and Extension Specialist, Michigan State University

Vegetable growers and gardeners look for good quality uniform transplants because using high quality transplants provides reliable plant establishment. There are a number of considerations one needs to make when preparing to grow high quality vegetable transplants. Dr Lopez will discuss some important keys to producing high quality vegetable transplants.

9:45 AM - Getting Tough on Tough Pests

Dan Gilrein, Entomology Specialist, Cornell Extension of Suffolk County

This presentation will cover some pest issues growers often report difficulty managing, especially thrips and mites. Dan will review some of the options and strategies for dealing with these and a few others growers have found frustrating, from preventive measures to rescue treatments.

11:00 AM - Management Strategies for Virus Diseases in Spring Greenhouse Crops

Margery Daughtrey, Senior Extension Associate, Cornell University Long Island Horticultural Research and Extension Center

Virus induced diseases of spring greenhouse crops can cause substantial economic loss if not managed early. Symptoms of virus diseases vary depending on the host and other factors.  Margery will discuss how to prevent, identify, and effectively manage virus diseases.

Pesticide Credits

Two pesticide credits in categories 26, 29, 31 and 000 have been approved for this program. Credits are valid for equivalent categories in all New England states. To receive pesticide credits, you must register with your unique email address, log in with your own device, answer all poll questions during the sessions and complete the survey after the webinar.
