2024 Get Ready for Spring Education Greenhouse Program, Part 2

Join us on March 5, 2024, for a virtual education program that will equip you with knowledge and skills you can put to use in the 2024 growing season.


8:30 AM - Root Diseases of Spring Greenhouse Crops 

Dr. Angela Madeiras, Plant Pathologist and Diagnostician, UMass Extension Plant Diagnostic Lab

Soil-borne pathogens can infect roots at any time during the crop’s development. If not controlled early, the damage can be irreversible. Angie will discuss tools that growers can use to manage root diseases effectively.

9:45 AM - Using the Substrate Chemistry to Your Advantage

Dr. Brian Krug, Technical Lead, Syngenta Flowers

This session will discuss how to master the basics of substrate chemistry to impact the success of your crops.

11:00 AM - Thrips Management in Greenhouse Crops (with a special mention on pepper thrips)

Dr. John Sanderson, Professor Emeritus, Cornell University

John will discuss best practices for managing and controlling thrips (with a special mention on pepper thrips) and how to make the best management decisions for  your greenhouse. 

Pesticide Credits

Two pesticide credits for Massachusetts categories 26, 29, 31 and 000 (Applicator's License/Core) have been approved for this program. Credits are valid for equivalent categories in all New England states. To receive pesticide credits, you must register with your unique email address, log in with your own device, answer all the poll sessions, and complete the survey after the webinar.
