Although, not a greenhouse pest, adult Asiatic garden beetles feed on flowering and foliage plants in outdoor retail yards, cut flower fields and home gardens. Asiatic garden beetles are about half as long as Japanese beetle adults, and somewhat more domed in appearance. They are reddish-brown or copper-colored. They are often found near roots of plants when weeding. Adults feed at night, so damage is noticed without seeing the beetles. During the day they hide in the loose soil or mulch around the base of the plants. Scout with a flashlight at dusk or during the night. Larvae feed on plant roots.
Contact insecticides can be applied as soon as the adult beetles are observed. Many of the contact insecticides may be harmful to bees, predatory mites and insects.
