December 2023 was wet with below average snowfall, and warmer than average. The temperature averaged 39.2 degrees, 4.9 degrees per day above the 30-year average. Maximum temperature was 60 degrees on the 11th and 19th ; a minimum temperature of 15 degrees was recorded on the 23rd and 24th. Daytime high temperatures averaged 47.9 degrees, 5.2 degrees above the norm. Evening temperatures averaged 30.4 degrees, 5.2 degrees above the norm.
Precipitation totaled 5.59 inches; 1.1 inches above normal. Rainfall was recorded on 13 days with 8 days receiving more than 0.1 inches. The largest rainfall was 1.36 inches on the 19th. Total rainfall for 2023 was 51.25 inches, 1.21 inches above the average for East Wareham and 3.46 inches more than the total rainfall for 2022. The total snowfall of 1.5 inches was recorded on the 7th in contrast to December 2022 that did not have any snowfalls. The long-term snowfall average in East Wareham for December is 6.98 inches of snow.
