We have rescheduled our April Pesticide Safety Meeting to online via Zoom for 2 nights next week, the 18th and 20th, 6-8 pm. Agenda will be different for each night. If you want to attend, need 4 contact hours (2 credits for each night), or just want to get the latest updates, please go to our newsletter to register http://ag.umass.edu/cranberry. Note that you should plan to sign on by 5:45 pm. If you need help with zoom, contact Robyn or Marty: rmhardy@umass.edu or martys@umass.edu.
An Aquatic Plant Survey has been sent out to all of you to assess the presence and impact of aquatic weeds on your farm. This information will allow us to better address your management and control needs for aquatic weeds. You will receive the survey in the same way (email or snail mail) you receive our newsletter. It should only take a few minutes to fill out, so thank you ahead of time for your help.
As part of a project to better understand the biology of dodder, we would like to collect infected cranberry and weed stems post-harvest and throughout the winter. Please call Hilary x21 or Katie x47 if you have an infestation on your farm that we could use. We would like to mark the areas NOW and then come back in the fall and winter to collect samples.
This will be the last WEEKLY update. I will update as needed through the harvest season, if timely issues come up. Feel free to call me at the station x21 or email me at hsandler@umass.edu if you have questions and/or have issues you’d like to have addressed in the IPM message.
