January was below average temperature month, and above average snowfall and precipitation. The average temperature was 27.48 degrees, 1.7 degrees below normal. The maximum temperature was 52 degrees on January 2nd,  and this is 2 degrees below normal. A minimum temperature of -4 degrees was recorded on the 31st  and this is 1.6 degrees below normal. Daytime high temperatures averaged 37.19 degrees, almost the same as the norm. Evening temperatures averaged 17.8 degrees, 3.1 degrees below the norm. Evening temperatures of 32 degrees or below were recorded on 28 nights.

Precipitation totaled 4.56 inches. This is 0.5 inches above normal. We had measurable precipitation on 12 days; 2 of those days had less than 0.10 inches. The largest 24-hour rainfall was 0.9 inches from the 30th. We had a total of 28.5 inches of  snowfall (20 inches more than January 2021), the long-term average snowfall for the month is 10.85 inches.

Sunshine averaged 52% of the possible sunshine hours. There were 8 days with no sunshine and 8 days with 90% or better sunshine. Total sunshine for January 2022 was 11 points above the long-term average for January and 38 points above sunshine hours recorded in January 2021.

We had a below-average temperature and about average sunshine hours with above average rainfall and snowfall for January.
