January was above average temperature month, and below average snowfall and above average precipitation. The average temperature was 31.9 degrees, 2.8 degrees above normal. The maximum temperature was 55 degrees on January 10, 11 and 14th and this is 0.9 degrees above normal. A minimum temperature of 11 degrees was recorded on the 23rd ;2.4 degrees above normal. Daytime high temperatures averaged 40.4 degrees, 3.1 degrees above the norm. Evening temperatures averaged 23.4 degrees, 3.4 degrees above the norm. Evening temperatures of 32 degrees or below were recorded on 27 nights.

Precipitation totaled 7.92 inches. This is 3.85 inches above normal. We had measurable precipitation on 14 days; 2 of those days had less than 0.10 inches. The largest 24-hour rainfall was 2.27 inches on the 8th. We had a total of 5 inches of snowfall, less than half of a January long-term average snowfall of 10.85 inches.

Sunshine averaged 35% of the possible sunshine hours. There were 10 days with no sunshine and 5 days with 90% or better sunshine. Total sunshine for January 2024 was 32 points below the long-term average for January.
