March was warmer than the 30-year average, with below-average rainfall and snowfall and above average sunshine.  The temperatures averaged 38.8 degrees, 1.76 degrees per day above the 30-year average. Maximum temperature for the month was 64 degrees on the 20th and a minimum temperature of 12 degrees was recorded on the 1st.  Daytime high temperatures averaged 49.68 degrees, 4.68 degrees above the norm.  Evening temperatures averaged 28 degrees, 0.9 degrees below the norm.

Sunshine totaled 53% of possible sunshine hours, 5% above the average.  Sunshine data are from the Blue Hill Observatory where 196 sunshine hours were recorded for the month.  Year-to-date sunshine for 2022 are 41 points above normal. 

Precipitation totaled 3.42 inches. This is 1.97 inches below normal.  We had measurable precipitation of 0.10 inches or greater on 8 days.  The largest 24-hour rainfall was 0.88 inches on the 25th. We have received a total of 13.7 inches of precipitation year-to-date, 0.63 inches above the average for East Wareham and 2.72 inches more than 2021 at this point. We had measurable snowfall of 2 inches on the 10th. The long-term snowfall for March is 5.34 inches.
