February had an above average temperature, below average precipitation and well below average snowfall. The temperatures averaged 32.9 degrees, 1.9 degrees above the long-term average. The maximum temperature was 60 degrees on the 28th and a minimum temperature of 14 degrees was recorded on the 21st and 22nd. Daytime high temperatures averaged 41.5 degrees, 2.2degrees above the long-term average for the month. Evening temperatures averaged 24.2 degrees, 1.2 degree above the long-term average.
Sunshine averaged 58% of the possible sunshine hours, 8 point above average. Eight days had 90% or better sunshine while 4 days had no sunshine. The sunshine hours are recorded at the Blue Hill Observatory in Milton, MA. Precipitation totaled 3.2 inches, 0.4 inches less than the long-term average. We had measurable precipitation on 8 days. The largest 24-hour rainfall was 1.2 inches on the 28th. February had 7 inches of snowfall, 2.5 inches less than the long-term average for February. Year-to-date snowfall recorded in East Wareham is now 9 inches compared to 33.5 inches in 2022 but better than 6 inches in 2023 . Snowfall records go back to 1952 in East Wareham.

The official winter in East Wareham (Dec. 2023- Feb. 2024) was warmer than normal (3 degrees warmer), wetter (by 4.5 inches), and well below average snowfall (less by 16.8 inches). Sunshine (at Blue Hills) for the winter was 145 hours , 11 points above the norm. The season's minimum temperature was 11 degrees on Dec 11, 19th and Jan 23rd and the maximum was 60 degrees on February 28th. Precipitation totaled 16.71 inches; 4.5 inches above average. Snowfall totaled 10.5 inches; 16.8 inches below normal. January was the warmest of the three winter months and highest rainfall. February was the snowiest for the winter season.
