October had an average temperature almost the same as the long-term average for the month, below average sunshine hours and above average rainfall.  The temperature averaged 52.48 degrees, 0.2 degrees per day below average for October.  Maximum temperature of 78.0 degrees was recorded on the 10th; a minimum temperature of 27.0 degrees was recorded on the 26th. Daytime high temperatures averaged 61.06 degrees, 8.1degrees below October 2017 and 0.74 degrees lower than the norm.  Evening low temperatures averaged 43.9 degrees, 0.2 degrees above the norm. This October is a departure from the past 8 years in which average temperatures where consistently warmer than the 30-year average. 

Sunshine totaled 40% of the possible sunshine hours, 15 points below the norm.  The Blue Hills observatory had 8 days that were mostly clear (at least 80% of possible) and 6 days with no sunshine.  There was only one day with fog in East Wareham this month.

Precipitation totaled 6.57 inches, 2.43 inches above the 30-year average.  The largest rainfall came on the 12th, 2.02 inches.  Measurable rain was recorded on 11 days, 8 days of which had rainfall of 0.10 inches or greater. Year-to-date rainfall for 2018 is 50.66 inches; 5.15 inches above average for East Wareham.
