September was dry, slightly warmer and with above average sunshine for the month. The temperature averaged 66.93°, 0.84 degrees per day above normal. Maximum temperature was 83° on the 21st day which is similar to the long-term maximum temperature. The minimum temperature was 42° and was recorded on the 20th. Daytime high temperatures averaged 73.43°, which is 1.43 degrees above the norm. Evening temperatures averaged 54.43°, 0.17 degrees below the norm. There were 5 days with a maximum temperature above 80°.
Sunshine totaled 69% of the possible sunshine hours, 10 points above the norm. We recorded 18 clear and sunny days in East Wareham. The Blue Hills Observatory (official site for sunshine hour data), recorded 4 days with fog and the rest were sunny and clear.
Precipitation totaled 2.18 inches, 2.16 inches below normal. We had measurable rain of 0.10 inches or greater on 4 days, and 2 days with spotty showers and drizzle with less than 0.10 inches recorded. The largest 24-hour rainfall was 1.1 inches on the 7th. By the end of September, a total 39.15 inches of rainfall had been received for the year, 2.46 inches above the long-term average.
