UMass Cranberry Station

The mission of the UMass Cranberry Station is to maintain and enhance the economic viability of the Massachusetts cranberry industry through research, extension and to serve the public welfare by supporting economic development and protection of the environment. We have specialists in Plant Pathology, Entomology, Environmental Physiology, Plant Nutrition/Cultural Practices, Weed Science/Integrated Pest Management, and Floriculture. The Cranberry Station, located in southeastern Massachusetts, is recognized as a leader in the United States and worldwide for research and outreach programs on cranberry culture.

Cranberry Station Update

To comply with both University, State, and National guidance procedures regarding social distancing during the Corona virus outbreak, the UMass Cranberry Station will be closed until further notice.  All the staff and faculty are working remotely and are available by phone, email or other conferencing platforms. HIGHLIGHTS:

April 4 Respirator Training with Marty is postponed until further notice.

April 15 Pesticide Safety Meeting is postponed until further notice.

All other in-person meetings are postponed until further notice.

Frost tolerance evaluations are still planned (once GDD have reached the threshold that indicates observations should begin). Please contact Peter Jeranyama for more information.

 

Worker Protection Standard (WPS) Handler Trainings

Reporting Kerb Use for 2019 in MA

The Emergency Exemption granted by EPA expires June 30, 2019.  MDAR requires that all applications are reported to them by November 30, 2019.  Labels and MDAR reporting forms are available by clicking here.
