Canned fruits and vegetables are great to keep on hand for when you don’t have fresh or frozen ones. Look for “low sodium” or “no salt added” on the label when buying canned vegetables. For canned fruit, choose the ones canned in 100% juice or water instead of syrup. As always, check the expiration date and look out for sharp dents or dents on the seam of the can. These dents can make tiny holes in the can, which let in air and can make the food dangerous to eat. Keep track of what you have at home, and use up canned fruits and vegetables before their expiration dates. Make sure you always have fruits and vegetables to eat by keeping canned on hand!
