UMass 4-H Visual Presentation Day

UMass 4-H held the 2022 4-H Visual Presentation Day in April for all youth ages 8-19 who qualified at their local level.  Public Speaking is an important life skill that is taught through 4-H projects during the year and culminates at the 4-H Visual Presentation Day.   The contest had over 100 participants in a virtual format using slides, PowerPoint and posters to put their public speaking skills to the test in one of 50 categories!  Presentations ranged from Red Velvet Cupcakes to Cattle Color Genetics to The Bermuda Triangle and everything in between!  4-H Members choose a topic of their choice and then craft a presentation ranging from 3-10 minutes in length to present to judges.  Top scorers in each category at the County level and then asked to present again at the statewide contest.   This year as another layer to the public speaking program, senior 4-H members who received top honors at UMass 4-H Visual Presentation Day will be invited to present at the North East 4-H Speak Up Festival on September 10, 2022.  Top youth speakers and presenters from all northeast states will compete for this next level contest and be recognized with honors as a regional champion!  4-H members also competed in equine categories to earn a spot on the UMass 4-H Horse Round Up Team and will attend National 4-H Horse Round Up in Kentucky in November.  UMass 4-H has dedicated 4-H volunteers who serve as trained judge's for this unique youth opportunity.  The 4-H public speaking program is one of the most valued skills and respected programs in all of UMass 4-H and gives young people self confidence, leadership and interpersonal skills.
