Over 200 4-H members and their families gathered at Bedford Middle School in Bedford on April 14. 4-H members, ages 8-18, presented on a wide range of topics. A first and second place winner was selected in each category and recognized at a special awards ceremony.
This event started as State 4-H Demonstration Day in 1955 which took place on the UMass Amherst campus. In the 1960's the name was changed to 4-H Visual Presentation Day and after that the event moved off the UMass campus. 4-H Visual Presentation Day is going strong after 63 years!
The program is supported through the Massachusetts 4-H Foundation by the Shirley Kane fund. Shirley Kane was a 4-H volunteer leader who believed strongly that the Visual Presentation program taught 4-H members critical public speaking and communication skills. She started an endowed fund to support the program.
